PROJECT STAGES



SUMMARY


The six development projects (Mirabella, Pilgrim-Triton, Chess-Hatch, Gilead, EFI, and Charter Square) which are proposed by developers and seriously being supported and pursued by City Hall will forever change Foster City if implemented.

There are serious issues and concerns being raised regarding the negative impact to the residents and the community of the 1st three projects ( Mirabella, Pilgrim-Triton, and Chess-Hatch). Despite this, the sole developer of these projects (Sares Regis), along with the City Hall are moving undeterred and at a fast pace towards implementing them. These three projects have been overwhelmingly approved by the City Council even prior to undertaking an impact analysis study.  Each of these projects along with the concomitant issues and concerns are discussed separately in this website.

The Gilead and EFI Projects are requests for expansion of their existing facilities to accommodate company growth. These two projects are viewed more favorably because of the certainty of the demand and the proven ability of these companies to generate revenue and employment.  Also, it is situated at the far end of the commercial section of Foster City, thus, well segregated and distant from the residential section.

The last project currently in line, Charter Square, is at an early stage of the approval and planning process. Information available at the moment is limited to make any objective and factual analysis or comments.


STATISTICS

The table below highlights the major statistics of these projects. Note the enormity and magnitude of these projects as stand alones, let alone when aggregated.

A total of over 30 new buildings are proposed to be built, a significant number of which are tall towers. Over 1,200 new residential units will be added.

Aggregately, these buildings will increase the current square footage of commercial and residential buildings by 1,450,000 million square feet to reach 1,757,154 square feet.
